Yoga is so much more than just the postures

If you’ve experienced a taste of the therapeutic effects of practicing the asanas (postures) than I have a hunch that you’ll love exploring the roots of yoga. Classical Yoga is a lifestyle, a dynamic ancient system with the ultimate goal of self-realization. Yoga is commonly known as a series of postures but this is only one component of the whole. The postures were traditionally used to prepare the body and mind to enter a more meditative state. 

Classical yoga is spiritual in nature

The side-effects include physical, mental and emotional healing which can then lead to higher states of being. In this more awakened state, our meaning and purpose in life become more clear. The techniques and tools used to reach this state of enlightenment include: asanas & attitude training, breathing techniques, meditation and philosophy. It is a rich and proven system that has been practiced for over 5,000 years in India. The distinction between the true goal of yoga as opposed to the many wonderful side-effects have been misconstrued as the practice has been commercialized in the west.

Exactly what’s needed in our hectic modern-day lives

When we are internally and externally misaligned and forcing ourselves through life, then we get sick. We as a society are deprived of living our truth and therefore there is ever more of an increase in health issues. This multi-layered system of teachings provide all the tools for noble & honest living. We can break free from our norm and start to live a more conscious life, a chosen life. As we condition our mind and body to enter these deeper states of fulfillment, our internal growth will start to directly reflect our external success. This is lasting happiness.
